A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a stationary truck on Sheikh Zayed Road, near the Arabian Ranches Bridge towards Abu Dhabi.
Dubai Police say the truck was stopped on the hard shoulder due to a technical issue, and the rider, who was caught off guard, couldn’t avoid the impact. He died at the scene from his injuries.
Authorities say the crash was caused by a combination of the truck’s unsafe stop and the motorcyclist’s lack of attention.
Following the incident, police have issued a strong warning to motorists about the dangers of stopping on the hard shoulder without a valid emergency.
Brigadier Juma bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said such unjustified stops are a serious traffic violation and often lead to fatal accidents.
He urged drivers to inspect their vehicles before setting out, use proper safety signals in case of breakdowns, maintain safe distance and avoid distractions while driving.
