Cricket World Cup semi-final moves to reserve day after rain

The English weather interrupted play between India and New Zealand in the first semi-final of the Cricket World Cup.

Rain intervened at Old Trafford when the Black Caps were on 211 for 5 after 46.1 overs, with Ross Taylor (67) and Tom Latham (3) at the crease, with the day's play eventually called off due to persistent showers.

The match will now resume today, which had been designated as a reserve day, from where it left off.

If rain disrupts proceedings again and the game gets completely washed out, the higher-placed team from the group stage, in this case India, will progress to the final.

The winner will go on to meet either Australia or England in Sunday's final at Lords, with the second semi taking place tomorrow at Edgbaston.
