She recovered from 4–0 down in the deciding set to win a near three-hour match on Stadium Court, eventually sealing victory in a tense tie-break. The comeback was greeted by loud support from the crowd, which included a large Filipino contingent.
“The support here has been really special,” Eala said afterwards. “I’m learning how to enjoy these moments and have fun in big environments like this.”
