The Emirates Drug Establishment has recalled all batches of a popular brand of Thai herbal inhalers from the UAE market after tests confirmed microbial contamination.
In October, Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalled a batch of 'Hong Thai Herbal Inhaler' after tests found microbial contamination. As many as 200,000 units that were manufactured on December 9, 2024 were removed from the shelfs in Thailand.
The Emirates Drug Establishment said it tested all batches of the inhaler in the local market and found samples of the contaminated batch.
It ordered the withdrawal of all batches of the product from circulation, not just the one identified by Thai regulators.

The product, named "yadom" in Thailand, is popular for nasal congestion, dizziness and motion sickness. It also found global acceptance after Blackpink's Lisa and Australian actor Chris Hemsworth were seen with it.
The withdrawal is being carried out in coordination with municipalities and other regulatory bodies in the UAE to ensure the product’s complete removal from all points of sale, including online platforms.
The authority urged citizens to stop using the product and to safely dispose of units they already have.
