Sharjah Police have called on parents to be mindful of the potential risks of children travelling alone.
The reminder comes after a taxi driver was arrested for trying to molest two teenage passengers during their ride home.
Buhairah Police Station took action after receiving a complaint from an Arab parent stating that the driver harassed his 13-year-old daughter and her 15-year-old friend.
The force were quick to track down the vehicle and arrest the Asian national, who confessed to the crime.
"As it turned out, the parents were aware of their daughters travelling alone in the taxi.
"Parents' role is no less important than the role of police and security agencies in protecting children," Sharjah Police said in a statement.
