Starting June 2, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority will require vehicle inspections at technical testing centres to be booked in advance using the RTA Dubai app or their website (www.rta.ae).
The move follows a successful six-month pilot programme at the Tasjeel centres in Al Qusais and Al Barsha, which cut waiting times by nearly half.
For those who prefer walk-in visits, 19 centres will offer that option, but it will come with an additional AED 100 service fee.
Meanwhile, eight centres will offer inspections only through pre-booked appointments, with no walk-in option available. These include Wasel Arabian Centre & Nad Al Hamar; Shamil Al Adid, Al Muhaisnah and Nad Al Hamar; Al Mumayaz Vehicle Testing Al Mizhar; and Tasjeel Al Tawar and Al Mankhool.
The RTA says the changes aim to improve customer experience, reduce congestion and streamline services across 27 testing centres in the emirate.
Exemptions from the mandatory booking include Dubai-registered vehicles owned by People of Determination and senior citizens or residents.
Tasjeel Hatta centre is also currently exempt from the appointment booking requirement.
