His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday passed a draft law on the protection of national safety.
The new law will safeguard all members of society in cases of disasters, pandemics, economic instability and environmental threats. It also details the roles of all relevant authorities responsible for monitoring, investigating and imposing penalties.
The cabinet meeting covered developments around COVID-19 across vital sectors such as health, education, and the economy.
A committee was also formed to study how government buildings in the country can be used as health and storage facilities to support the fight against the pandemic.
A group has also been tasked with developing the government’s human resources to increase their productivity and enhance their skills, and preparing them for a new system of government work post-COVID-19.
