The second phase of the Digital Tax Stamp has come into effect today in the UAE.
That's according to the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) which reaffirmed that waterpipe tobacco and electrically-heated tobacco products will be banned if they do not have the digital mark.
The latest solution aims to boost the efficiency of tax control to help the Emirates transition into a knowledge-based economy.
On June 1, the UAE will also prohibit the import, transport, storage and possession of unmarked excise goods.
Stakeholders in the country attended workshops organised by the FTA to better understand the necessary legal requirements for importing, distributing and producing tobacco products.
