Abu Dhabi installs special cameras on school buses to catch violators

WAM

Abu Dhabi Police are implementing an automated camera system on school buses to catch 'stop sign' violators.

In a statement, the authorities explained that the camera will capture details of all vehicles that are within five metres of the device.

According to the UAE traffic laws, vehicles travelling on both directions must come to a complete halt when the school bus 'stop sign' is on.

Violators stand to receive a fine of AED 1,000 and 10 traffic points.

If the bus driver fails to extend the stop sign, they will get an AED 500 fine and six traffic points.
