Three people were killed and several others injured in separate attacks targeting Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia on October 6 and 7, according to the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).
The authority said the attack on Abha International Airport resulted in the deaths of two women of Moroccan and Algerian nationality, while 28 others were injured, including Saudi citizens, a Bangladeshi resident and a Filipino resident.
At King Khalid International Airport, one Sudanese resident was killed and eight people were injured, including Saudi citizens, and Egyptian and Pakistani residents.
All injured individuals were taken to hospital for treatment. The two attacks also caused property damage.
GACA said emergency response teams and relevant authorities acted immediately in line with established procedures and are continuing to assess the damage, verify the safety of facilities and take necessary measures to ensure passenger safety and maintain secure aviation operations.
