Jordan's air defence systems intercepted eight missiles that entered the country's airspace early on Monday, according to the Jordanian Armed Forces.

An official spokesperson said the missiles were successfully destroyed before they posed a threat to people or property.

The Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported that the interceptions followed operational assessments and were carried out under approved rules of engagement.

The Jordanian Armed Forces said they remain on alert and will take necessary measures to protect the country's airspace and security.
