India announces mandatory home quarantine for all international arrivals

AFP

India has introduced mandatory seven-day home quarantine for all international arrivals in response to the rise in COVID-19 cases.

Making the announcement, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said travellers must take a RT-PCR test on the eighth day of arrival.

If negative, the test results must be uploaded on the Air Suvidha Portal, and travellers "must self monitor for next seven days".

The move will come into effect from January 11.

Meanwhile, all passengers arriving from "at-risk" countries will continue to be tested upon arrival.
