Heathrow Airport says flight schedules remain severely disrupted following a technical problem with air traffic control that left thousands stranded.
Air traffic was heavily restricted during the issue, which has led to a knock on effect with flights being delayed for up to 12 hours.
Heathrow Airport has apologised for any inconvenience as passengers fumed about the lack of communication during the disruption.
We apologise for any inconvenience as a result of the NATS technical issues today. The issue has been resolved however schedules remain significantly disrupted. If you are travelling on 29th August, please ensure you contact your airline before travelling to the airport.

Posting on X, formally known as Twitter, a Tweet read: “We apologise for any inconvenience as a result of the NATS technical issues today. The issue has been resolved however schedules remain significantly disrupted. If you are travelling on 29th August, please ensure you contact your airline before travelling to the airport.”
Heathrow Airport is advising travellers to only go to the airport if their flight is “confirmed to be operating.”
Etihad Airways is advising passengers travelling to and from London and Manchester that there may be flight delays. All Emirates flights to and from the United Kingdom are operating as normal.
