Nearly 8,000 residents of Philippines' Batangas are being moved to safer grounds following increasing volcanic activity on Sunday.
Taal Volcano spewed an ash column one km high on Sunday afternoon, with the Philippines’ volcano monitoring authority PHIVOLCS-DOST increasing the alert to Level 3.
Meanwhile, authorities have stopped operations at the Manila airport.
Communities around Taal lake have also been advised to take precautionary measures and be vigilant of possible lake water disturbances related to the volcanic activity.
Taal is the second most active volcano in the country with 34 recorded eruptions.
