A bomb explosion in the old quarter of the Egyptian capital Cairo left two policemen dead on Monday.
The blast also killed the man the police were chasing and wounded three other policemen.
According to reports, the officers had cornered the terrorist and were set to arrest him when an explosive device in his possession went off.
The terrorist was wanted for planting an explosive device last week near a mosque, the ministry said in a statement.
