The UAE is taking further measures to provide essential infrastructure services in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
As part of 'Operation Chivalrous Knight 3', the UAE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Khan Younis Municipality to repair water lines and conduct emergency maintenance on water networks throughout the city.
The initiative aims to ease the hardships faced by residents and help the municipality maintain vital services.
Recent assessments reveal that nearly 70 per cent of the main water networks in Khan Younis have been damaged, with 25 wells completely destroyed and 12 partially damaged.
This has worsened the ongoing water crisis, especially affecting displaced individuals' access to clean water.
Under the new MoU, efforts will include repairing water submersibles, extending external water networks, and supplying water barrels to central filling points.
The UAE will also provide operational materials such as solar and gas, and maintain water submersibles to ensure delivery to densely populated areas where displaced people are concentrated.
This initiative is crucial in preventing potential health crises, improving the environmental situation and enhancing overall service delivery to the residents of Khan Younis.
