The UAE has once again reiterated its solidarity with the Palestinian people and called for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza.
During a UN General Assembly session on Palestine, Emirati Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Mohamed Abushahab said achieving long-term stability in the region requires a permanent solution based on the two-state model.
"Statistics and percentages cannot explain the actual impact of this war, and the extent of its repercussions that may extend for decades, including the deep psychological effects on the souls of those who witnessed its woes, and who look at the numbers of the dead and wounded as a memorial to all those they lost, from sons, brothers, relatives and friends, and see the rubble as the remains of their homes that contained their families and grandparents, and the environment in which they grew up," he said.
"Achieving long-term stability in the region requires finding a permanent, comprehensive and just solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict, based on the two-state solution, in accordance with a clear, transparent and irreversible roadmap, and the embodiment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in security and peace side by side with Israel," Abushahab added.
