The UAE and the Egypt held the fifth session of their Joint Consular Committee in Cairo, aimed at advancing and strengthening cooperation in all consular fields to better serve their respective citizens.
The meeting was chaired by Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the UAE side, Faisal Eissa Lutfi, and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad, Ambassador Ismail Khairat, from the Egyptian side.
The two parties discussed several joint consular issues, shared their experiences, and reviewed best practices. They explored ways to leverage these practices to further develop joint consular work, with the goal of enhancing proactive consular services to better serve the citizens of both nations.
During the meeting, he commended the historical and fraternal relations between the UAE and Egypt, which are built upon strong ties, mutual respect, and shared interests. These foundations have propelled the relationship to greater heights across all sectors. He also expressed the UAE’s appreciation for the efforts of the Egyptian side in strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the consular field, which has seen notable progress in recent years.
Lutfi emphasised that the UAE and Egypt have successfully established a modern and sustainable model for their fraternal and strategic relations. This model has resulted in numerous significant achievements across various sectors. He noted that these accomplishments in the framework of bilateral relations provide strong motivation to continue progressing toward further successes, thereby achieving shared developmental goals for the two countries and their peoples. He also stressed the importance of setting mechanisms and solutions for a future rich in cooperation and partnerships in the consular field.
The meeting included the participation of representatives from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and the Education and Technology Attaché in Egypt, along with representatives from relevant Egyptian authorities.
