The UAE has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a military convoy in the northwest region of Pakistan that killed 12 soldiers.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reaffirmed the UAE’s strong condemnation of such criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability.
The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, and to the government and people of Pakistan over this heinous attack.
The soldiers were moving in vehicles when they came under fire in the mountainous Badar area of South Waziristan near the border with Afghanistan.
Pakistan's military said in a statement that 12 soldiers and 13 rebels were killed in the clash "after an intense exchange of fire".
At least four people were injured, security officials said.
