A warning has been issued by Abu Dhabi Police against scammers who pretend to be victims of fraud and beg for money directly or via social media sites and "chat" apps during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
A statement published on Facebook said the government has established official channels for charity and assistance to ensure donations reach those in need.
An integrated security plan will be implemented at police stations in Abu Dhabi over the coming weeks.
Regulatory measures will also be doubled.
In addition, officers will patrol areas where the beggars are expected to operate.
