One of the UAE’s oldest hospitals has been renamed in honour of the American couple who founded it in the 1960s.
Oasis Hospital in Al Ain will now be known as Kanad Hospital, after Dr. Pat and Marian Kennedy.
This follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
More than 120,000 babies have been delivered at the hospital, which is gearing up to celebrate its 60th anniversary next year.
The story goes back to 1960 when the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan invited the Kennedys to set up a facility to provide healthcare services for newborns and infants.
Under the directives of Mohamed bin Zayed, Hazza bin Tahnoun launched the new branding of the Oasis Hospital in Al Ain under the name of “Kanad Hospital” in honour of the efforts played by the founders of the hospital Dr. Pat and Marian Kennedy in developing healthcare in Al Ain. pic.twitter.com/8H3DXqm1Sy
