Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has pledged AED 20 million to the '1 Billion Meals Endowment' campaign.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO, DEWA, said the contribution will "provide a food safety net... without discrimination" and "help fight hunger".
It's a key challenge to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, he added.
The food aid endowment fund was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan, the campaign aims to mobilise local, regional and international efforts to implement sustainable programmes to eradicate hunger and create a food safety net for the underprivileged.
Those wishing to contribute to the '1 Billion Meals Endowment' campaign can donate through the campaign’s website, SMS, bank transfers, a dedicated call centre or the DubaiNow app.
