Residency permits that ended on March 1 will be renewed for three months without any additional fees or penalties.
The validity of all expired government services will also be automatically extended for three months, starting April 1.
The decision applies to all federal government services, including documents, permits/licenses and commercial registers.
These are the latest in a series of relief measures announced by the federal cabinet to limit the economic impact of COVID-19 and ensure the continuity of business.
The cabinet has also approved a temporary licensing scheme to digitise judicial transactions and notary services.
