A tour operator has narrowly escaped after being swept into a whale’s mouth for 1.8 seconds off the coast of South Africa.
In a video, that has since gone viral, the 51-year-old is seen with his legs hanging out of a Bryde's whale's mouth.
Rainer Schimpf, who takes tourists whale watching in Algoa Bay, said there was "no time for fear or any emotion".
He added that the experience made him realise just how small humans are.
"I felt the pressure increase around the waist, which is when I guess the whale realised his mistake as he turned sideways, opened his mouth slightly to release me and I was washed out, together with what felt like tons of water," Schimpf added.
