More than 40 people have been injured following a car bomb attack at a government facility in Afghanistan's northern province of Samangan on Monday.
Officials described it as a "complex attack that started with a car bomb".
The death toll is expected to rise as the clash between the gunmen and security forces is ongoing.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack comes as the US tries to usher the Afghan government and the Taliban towards a peace deal to end more than 18 years of war.
