Naomi Osaka has ended Bianca Andreescu's 17-match winning streak at the China Open.
She fought back from a set down to defeat the Canadian teen 5-7, 6-3, and 6-4 in 2 hours and 14 minutes at the National Tennis Centre on Friday.
It marked Andreescu's first singles match loss since March 1.
"I know that she’s such an amazing player," said Osaka during her post-match interview. "She’s like on a 17-match winning streak or something crazy so I told myself I have to keep fighting."
Osaka will take on titleholder Caroline Wozniacki in Saturday’s semifinals.
