Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has refused to blame Raheem Sterling for the team’s Champions League defeat to Juventus. The Premier League leaders lost their group stage opener 2-1 to last season’s finalists. Sterling had two big opportunities but wasted both. However, Pellegrini told reporters that the result wasn’t solely the fault of the England forward. "I don't think this result is just because of Raheem,” he said. "I expect that when we have chances we must score. "The differences are very slight especially against a strong team like Juventus. Maybe Juventus didn't create so many but they had strong finishes."
