Third seed Coco Gauff pulled off a comeback win in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships round of 16, outclassing Karolina Pliskova 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
The US Open champion snapped Pliskova's 11-match winning streak in the process. Gauff has now reached the Dubai quarterfinals in three of her four appearances at the event.
The American's next opponent will be qualifier Anna Kalinskaya, who upset No. 9 seed Jelena Ostapenko 6-4, 7-5.
Elsewhere, fourth seed Elena Rybakina survived a stern test from qualifier Magdalena Frech to win the third round match 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-4.
Rybakina, the 2020 finalist's quartefinal opponent is the unseeded Jasmine Paolini, who defeated No. 8 seed Maria Sakkari 6-4, 6-2.
Seventh seed Marketa Vondrousova also moved into the last eight, defeating No. 12 seed Liudmila Samsonova 6-2, 6-2.
The Wimbledon champion took advantage of 40 unforced errors from her opponent to reach her first quarterfinal since the US Open last year.
