Al Wahda and Khorfakkan led the first round of the ADNOC Professional Football League, with Al Wahda defeating Ajman 2-0 and Khorfakkan beating Al Jazira 3-2 during their matches on Sunday.
Al Wahda secured a 2-0 victory over Ajman at the Rashid bin Humaid Stadium in the first round of the league, increasing its score to three points while leaving Ajman without any points.
In the same round, Khorfakkan took down Al Jazira 3-2 at Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Stadium, adding three more points to its scorecard and leaving Al Jazira without any points.
In response to the team's loss, Al Jazira Club announced the dismissal of first-team coach Hussein Ammouta and his assistant staff. The Club thanked the technical staff for their contributions so far and confirmed that a replacement would be announced soon.
Amouta took over in July 2024 on a contract extending until 2026. The 55-year-old coach led the team to victory in the Adeeb Cup last April.
