Two model bus stations have come up at Oud Metha and Al Satwa in Dubai.
Featuring unique designs, the stations offer integrated services for passengers such as retail outlets, restaurants, service points and offices.
Spanning over 9,640 square metres, Oud Metha station is expected to have a footfall of 10,000 passengers per day. It has nine bays for buses and 359 vehicle parking. Facilities like prayer rooms, staff office and public toilets have been incorporated.
At the Al Satwa station, 7,800 passengers are expected each day. Over 220 parking spaces have been created for vehicles and 15 for buses. It consists of various facilities for public like restrooms and prayer rooms.
“The construction of stations for public bus riders complements RTA’s efforts to upgrade public transport infrastructure to encourage people to use public transit means in their daily movement. The new stations boast contemporary designs that cater to the needs of sustainability and people of determination, yet coherent with the identity and shape of RTA’s stations,” said Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority.
