The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the agreement of a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, commending the diplomatic efforts of United States President Donald Trump.
In a statement in the early hours of Friday morning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its hope that this development would constitute a positive step towards strengthening an environment conducive to regional stability, stressing the importance of continuing effective international coordination to prevent further escalation and avoid its humanitarian and security repercussions in the region.
The Ministry emphasised the UAE's full solidarity with the Lebanese government and its support during this critical period for Lebanon, as well as its efforts to consolidate weapons under state control and dismantle terrorist organizations, a pivotal step in establishing national security and stability.
The Ministry also reaffirmed the UAE's unwavering commitment to supporting Lebanon's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and its continued support for the Lebanese people in achieving their aspirations for security, stability, development, and prosperity.
President Trump announced the 10-day ceasefire on his official Truth Social account on Thursday after conversations with both Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
