UAE water pipeline starts supplying clean, drinking water to Gaza

WAM

The UAE-funded pipeline has started pumping clean, drinking water from its desalination plants in Egypt to southern parts of Gaza, offering a vital lifeline to thousands of families enduring a severe shortage since the war broke out.

The pipeline, the largest of its kind, has been connected to the Al-Buraq reservoir in Khan Younis with a capacity of 5,000 m³, ensuring additional areas gain access to clean water.

It extends 7.5 km with a capacity of around 2 million gallons per day, serving more than one million people.

The project builds on continuous Emirati efforts in Gaza, which includes the establishment of six desalination plants, the access to reservoirs and tankers, and maintenance of wells. It underscores the UAE’s commitment to supporting the people of Gaza and providing life-sustaining support through “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3”.
