Take note if you are using phones that only support 2G networks as the sale of these devices will be stopped in the UAE in June 2022.
The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) also confirmed that the complete shutdown of 2G (GSM) networks in the country is scheduled for the end of 2022.
The move is aimed at redirecting resources towards supporting new generations of mobile networks.
2G was activated in the UAE back in 1994, and it is still active, despite the succession of generations until 5G.
