The UAE will now use dogs and modern technology to detect drugs and explosives arriving at ports.
The ‘Ras Cargo’ project has been launched by the Federal Customs Authority and involves several stages.
At first, samples are collected from the air from any closed storage unit by means of modern technical devices.
This is followed by analyzation of the filters using k9 customs dogs in the analysis room. The next stage involves making decisions and recording data in the control room.
Ali Saeed Matar Alneyadi, Commissioner of Customs - Chairman of FCA, said the UAE is the first country ever to implement such modern technology worldwide for detecting drugs, and highlighted that such technology is one of its kind in inspecting trucks, goods and closed vehicles by combining modern technology, man effort, and K9 dogs.
