UAE thwarts cyberattacks targeting aviation, energy and education sectors

The UAE Cybersecurity Council has foiled "advanced and organised" cyberattacks that attempted to disrupt the "continuity of vital systems and services", including the aviation, energy and education sectors in the country.

In a statement released on national news agency Wam, the Council said the attacks were carried out at multiple levels that saw the "targeting of operational accounts and data, as well as phishing campaigns, and exploiting users as an entry point into targeted environments".

It added that immediate action was taken once the indicators were flagged, helping contain the impact on the vital sectors.

This reflects the UAE’s advanced capabilities in “early detection” and proactive threat analysis, aiming to protect the country’s digital space.
