The UAE's Military Attorney-General has ordered the referral of a number of defendants to the Military Criminal Court over allegations of abusing official authority to unlawfully obtain exemptions from national and reserve service.
The Military Prosecution says investigations uncovered the alleged falsification of official records, documents and medical reports to help some conscripts bypass established national service procedures.
Those charged include public officials and conscripts, with each facing charges based on their individual roles in the cases.
The Military Attorney-General has stressed that national service is a duty, an honour and a responsibility towards the nation, emphasising the importance of protecting the integrity of the system.
He also warned that anyone found to have evaded national service or abused their position to facilitate such practices would be held accountable before the military judiciary in accordance with the law.
