An Emirati aid ship carrying more than 1,000 tonnes of food and other essential supplies has arrived at Mogadishu port to support relief efforts in drought-hit Somalia.
The shipment, which is expected to benefit nearly 2.5 million people, was sent following the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The relief items were arranged in coordination between the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.
Somalia is experiencing its worst drought in 40 years due to a lack of rain for three consecutive seasons.
