As international leaders prepare for the UN’s climate change conference in Paris, the judges on the UAE’s Zayed Future Energy Prize are continuing their deliberations. The prize is the Emirates’ international awards for energy and sustainability pioneers. Earlier this week, the UAE formally submitted a document to the United Nations, outlining the country’s commitment to countering global warming. Dr. Thani Al-Zeyoudi is Permanent Representative of the UAE to The International Renewable Energy Agency and Director of Energy and Climate Change at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He’s also a Member of the Selection Committee of the Zayed Future Energy Prize. He says that by 2021 the Emirates will generate a quarter of its electricity from clean energy.
