The UAE has refuted claims made by a warring party in Sudan during the 61st session of the Human Rights Council, noting that the allegations are false and baseless.
Shahad Matar, Deputy Permanent Representative of the UAE to the UN and other International Organisations in Geneva, stated that the party "has failed to ensure impartial investigations or any real accountability".
She added that the party stands accused of war crimes against their own population and has sabotaged any regional and international efforts to solve the conflict.
The UAE representative also noted that the warring party committed documented human rights violations and violations of international humanitarian law in Sudan.
"This is merely the latest failed attempt to lecture this hall on the rule of law," said Matar.
