The UAE has announced a financial contribution of $200,000 for 2025 to the UNHCR’s Refugee Programme during the UNHCR Pledging Conference in Geneva.
The UAE’s Permanent Representative to the UN and other International Organisations in Geneva, Jamal Al Musharakh, emphasised the UAE’s commitment to supporting the UNHCR's unwavering efforts to provide life-saving protection and essential assistance to millions of refugees and displaced persons around the world, stressing that “in supporting UNHCR’s mission, we reaffirm our commitment to the principles of humanity, and dignity for all".
During his speech at the event, Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, expressed his appreciation to the UAE for its support and commitment to the plight of refugees.
The pledging conference is an annual event established by the General Assembly for the announcement of pledges and voluntary contributions to the UNHCR’s programme.
Donor governments pledged a record $1.143 billion. UNHCR’s Global Appeal asked donors for $10.248 billion in funding for 2025 to support forcibly displaced people as displacement has reached an unprecedented level as conflicts around the globe increase.
