UAE nationals currently in the US are being urged to keep a close eye on the progress of Hurricane Dorian.
Dozens of UAE citizens have returned home from the US state of Florida as the storm nears landfall.
On Twitter, the UAE embassy said 70 people from the UAE and a number of other GCC countries have been safely evacuated on a charter plane.
Embassy team received 70 evacuees this evening on a charter plane after departing from Miami ahead of hurricane Dorian scheduled to hit landfall. In a Tweet, the embassy also instructed all Emiratis in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina to monitor Hurricane Dorian by watching the local news and following the instructions of local emergency services.
Hurricane Dorian is expected to make landfall on Monday.
