The UAE is joining Oman today in celebrating its 54th National Day, underscoring the deep-rooted ties and strategic partnership between the two nations.
The growing relationship between the UAE and Oman continues to be guided by the leadership of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman.
The UAE marks the annual occassion with a series of celebratory events, including lighting up landmarks with the Omani flag, welcoming Omani visitors with flowers and gifts at border crossings and airports, and hosting special events in shopping malls and entertainment venues.
Under Sultan Haitham’s leadership, Oman is focusing on modernisation and economic diversification through its "Oman Vision 2040."
This ambitious plan aims to achieve sustainable growth, modernize the economy, and enhance education, innovation, and job creation. It also sets a target of 5 per cent annual economic growth and aims to raise GDP per capita by up to 90 per cent.
The UAE and Oman share a strong trade relationship. Last year, non-oil trade between the two countries reached AED 51 billion, marking a 5 per cent increase from the previous year.
The UAE remains Oman's largest trading partner, accounting for over 40 per cent of Oman's imports and around 20 per cent of its exports.
In April, Sultan Haitham’s visit to the UAE resulted in the signing of agreements worth AED 129 billion, covering key sectors such as renewable energy, green minerals, railways and digital infrastructure, facilitated by both nations' ministries of investment and commerce.
Culturally, the UAE and Oman continue to celebrate their shared heritage in arts, literature, and traditions, further strengthening their enduring bonds.
