President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Green Credit Initiative at COP28, to incentivise voluntary efforts to address the challenge of climate crisis.
The aim is to encourage proactive environmental actions beyond legal requirements, making sustainable practices simple and widespread.
A web platform to serve as a repository of policies and best practices was also launched.
During the launch, Sheikh Mohamed expressed the importance in supporting the environment and providing a global platform for dialogue and cooperation on climate solutions.
The initiative is based on the Green Credit Programme, which was notified by the Indian Ministry of Environment in October.
