A professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has been named the winner of the UAE's 'Great Arab Minds Award' in the field of engineering and technology.
Lebanese-born Fadel Adib, Associate Professor at MIT, has been honoured for his contributions to wireless sensing technologies.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced Adib as the winner on the platform X.
Sheikh Mohammed said Adib has published over 80 research papers and holds patents in engineering and technology.
"His research and inventions have significantly expanded the possibilities of wireless sensing technologies, leading to advancements in various areas, including through-wall vision and sensing, enabling the detection of objects and vibrations behind walls, under rubble and numerous other applications," His Highness added.

Additional relief supplies for Gaza have been airlifted from Dubai, following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
"Israel must end its siege of Gaza, let aid in and stop the forcible transfer of the Palestinian population," the UAE's Permanent Representative to the UN, Lana Nusseibeh told the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Wednesday.
The UAE said it was "deeply disappointed" with the outcome of Tuesday's vote in the UN Security Council on the Gaza humanitarian ceasefire draft resolution, which was supported by 13 of the 15 members.
The comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and Germany, and ways to develop areas of bilateral cooperation, have been discussed on a working visit to Germany by the UAE's Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, discussed the latest developments related to the Syrian crisis in a meeting with Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria, Geir O. Pedersen, on Tuesday.
