UAE, Germany announce new agreements and strategic dialogue

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz have witnessed the announcement of a series of agreements, memoranda of understanding and letters of intent aimed at expanding cooperation.

The announcements were made during Sheikh Mohamed’s state visit to Germany and cover several priority areas, including investment, economic development, advanced technology and energy.

Among the key agreements is a declaration to establish a UAE-German Investment Council, which will provide a platform to strengthen investment ties between the two countries.

The two sides also announced the launch of a Strategic Dialogue, creating a new framework for advancing their broader partnership.

Other agreements cover energy cooperation, investment in data centres in Germany, environmental protection, culture, data hosting and information systems, as well as air transport.

The package also includes cooperation on combating crime, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, and exploring closer cooperation in defence and security.

The agreements are designed to build on the UAE and Germany’s longstanding partnership and open new opportunities for cooperation across sectors that are important to the future growth and development of both countries.

• Cooperation Arrangement towards the Development of an International Initiative to Facilitate Passenger Procedures
• Letter of Intent on Exploring a Framework for Cooperation in Defence and Security
• Joint Declaration of Intent on the Continued Expansion of Cooperation in the Field of Energy
• Joint Declaration of Intent on Investment in Data Centres in Germany
• Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Combating All Forms of Crime
• Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters
• Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of the Environment
• Draft Letter of Intent on Establishing Cooperation in Data Hosting and Information Systems
• Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Culture
