The UAE has expressed its solidarity with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) over two tragic boat accidents on the Congo River.
Two separate boat accidents this week in the Central African country have killed at least 193 people and left dozens missing. One boat, carrying 500 people, caught fire, while the other capsized. The causes of both accidents have not yet been determined.
Search operations took place after the accidents, with naval personnel and community volunteers combing the banks while authorities pledged medical care for the injured.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy with the families of the victims, and wished for a speedy recovery for all the injured.
