The UAE has called for de-escalation between Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging both sides to avoid steps that could worsen tensions in the region.

According to Reuters, Pakistan's military said that 23 of its soldiers were killed during clashes on Sunday. The Taliban said nine on its side were killed.

Pakistan has also closed border crossings with Afghanistan following exchanges of fire between the two countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasised the importance of prioritising restraint and wisdom alongside adopting diplomatic means to resolve differences in a manner that contributes to enhancing security and stability in South Asia.
