The UAE and the UK are strengthening cooperation in the cultural and creative sector.
The Ministry of Culture and Youth has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UK's Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS).
It aims to reinforce cooperation in cultural heritage, literature, visual and performing arts, audio-visual media, design, cultural and creative industries.
The two countries will also work together to support youth and talented individuals in the cultural fields.
The agreement will make the cultural and creative industries a significant contributor to the national GDP, while also creating additional opportunities for creative talents.
The MoU was signed by Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, UAE Minister of State, and Nigel Huddleston, the UK's Minister for Sport, Tourism, Heritage and Civil Society.
The two ministers highlighted the importance of culture and its role in establishing social cohesion and promoting dialogue between people and communities.
The MoU will enable the exchange of experiences to facilitate the implementation of international agreements, such as those signed with UNESCO, and will also promote the translation of published materials in both English and Arabic.
