The UAE has banned the import of all poultry products from Mexico.
It comes after the outbreak of a highly contagious strain of bird flu in the Mexican district of Acolman.
In a statement, the UAE's Ministry of Climate Change and Environment ( MoCCAE) said they would be in effect until the disease is brought under control.
However, they said thermally treated poultry products from Mexico are still being cleared for import.
The MoCCAE says its carefully scrutinising documentation accompanying all consignments of food products being shipped into the country. Samples are also being transferred to laboratories for necessary checks.
