UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi has shared a breathtaking photo of an active volcano from the International Space Station (ISS)

The image, which Al Neyadi shared via X, formally known as Twitter, shows Taal volcano in the Philippines.

"Kamusta Pilipinas!" he wrote, "I captured this image of Taal Volcano, one of the smallest volcanoes in the world and the second most active one in the Philippines from the ISS.

"The deeper we look at Earth from space, the more we understand its unique geographical diversity."

Despite being one of the smallest volcanos in the world, Taal, located 70 km south of Manila, is the second most active in the Philippines.

Last week, Al Neyadi revealed how he has been growing his own food from the ISS in a bid for a more sustainable future for space exploration.

The astronaut is currently on a six-month mission on board the ISS and is expected to return home next month.
